The business was started over 50 years ago by Norman Hedwarth Story, a carpenter of high repute and fiery temper with exacting standards of workmanship and finishing. The first workshop was in Causey Street, Gosforth, after which it moved to Dinnington Village before finally settling in Brunswick.

When Norman retired in 1993, John Robson felt it was his duty and obligation to ensure those exacting standards were carried on and this has been achieved by using time served tradesmen who have spent all their working lives in the woodworking industry. They in turn pass their knowledge on to the apprentices.

John has been at the helm since taking over when Norman retired.
